Welcome Back

We are pleased to welcome back many of our returning tourists. It is great that we can all travel a little further and see some of Australia this year. In this stage of Covid 19 we are still being careful.

Here are some of our changes !

  • There is still hand sanitiser on the front counter.
  • All surfaces are sanitized in the reception after each guest visits
  • Rooms are cleaned to or usual high standard but all surfaces are completely sanitized after each guest leaves, especially remotes and switches.
  • Contactless payments where possible.

Bookings are Essential

As those who can, start to travel again we are getting extremely busy so please book ahead. Remember also that many of our attractions have social distancing restrictions so they are limited in numbers on tours so it is essential that you book those as well as your accommodation. Our hotels are now open for food and drinks as well. Just ask for any information when booking.

Thank you for all being so patient and supportive through this time and hopefully things will improve from now on.

We are all still in this together.

Arnos Wall
A modern wonder of art and architecture, Arno Grotjahn’s wall contains almost every household item you can imagine and more. The walls reach two metres high and extend for at least 70 metres. They are constructed of concrete and rock brought from Arno’s opal mine at Opalton and studded with rusted lawnmower parts, boat propellers, vintage typewriters and sewing machines and even a couple of complete motorbikes. Every part of the Wall has a story, and if you are lucky, you may run into one of the locals happy to share them A bit about the Architect Arno was born in 1930 and spent his youth as a merchant seaman travelling the world. He immigrated to Australia from Germany some 30 years ago and spent his time in and around Winton opal mining.

Winton Outback Motel – Still Open for Business

In this time of the Covid 19 crisis we would like to let our regular guests and friends know that we are still open for business.  If anyone needs to travel, and we are finding there are still a lot out there who do, then please know we would welcome your business. You will notice there are a few changes – we didn’t have hand sanitiser on the counter before- and we would like to reassure everyone that we are taking every precaution to make sure everything is cleaned even more thoroughly than our previously high standard.  All surfaces are sanitised every day (and in the reception between guests) and our remotes have never been so clean. Unfortunately as with everyone through this crisis we have had to make cuts so we no longer have Foxtel in our rooms.  Foxtel have been generous enough to allow us to suspend their broadcast until the virus restrictions are lifted  so as soon as it happens it will be back. As you can understand we are not as busy as normal so to save money we have closed off rooms – which means turning off fridges, air cons, hot water systems etc.  We are keeping some open but we have already found that particularly during the week we do need to open up some of our closed rooms.  So that we can have everything comfortable for you it is advisable to book ahead. In this stressful time we hope that you all stay safe and if you have any great isolation ideas let us know and we will pass them on. We are all in this together.
